Here is a question I was wondering before:
What products would be considered designed for Original D&D? Of course, most are easy: The box sets and supplements for instance.
But what about Geomorphs and Monster and Treasure Assortments?
I have them listed in both the Original Dungeons & Dragons Archive and in the "Classic" Dungeons & Dragons Archive. Initially I thought them to be an OD&D product, but the inclusion of Sets One with the Basic Set makes them appear to be a "crossover".
How about the early Character Sheets on the pad? Are they for OD&D rules?
Fazzlewood? I've certainly never the read the original . . .
Wee Warrriors? Are they all OD&D?
Rahasia/Pharaoh?
Any other Tourneys or Publishers who made items designed to use OD&D rules? _________________ "Ah, Blackadder. Started talking to yourself, I see."

I'd say before early 1977 for OD&D since in 1977 the rules from the booklets got dissected and put either in the Basic Rulebook, or the 1st edition books.

In spriit, I agree that 1977 could be a good cutoff date, but the various geos are rules-independent, and should probably just be listed as OD&D, then perhaps list the 1980 geos as Classic since the level example was revised to be consistent with Moldvay Basic. For ease of access, they should probably be cross-linked among each other, too.
Monster/Treasure Assortment did go through rules revisions (see TFoster's info on the Acaeum @ http://www.acaeum.com/library/m&tchanges.html), and should be aligned with the appropriate systems (and also cross-linked among themselves).
Tourneys and adventures from 1977 and earlier, in general, are likely OD&D-based for rules, and even until the release of the MM and Holmes Basic, OD&D was the only rules set available, so likely anything run that year was probably written to OD&D. Certainly Tsojconth is OD&D (I can't say for Wee Warriors, Fazzlewood, or Daystar). _________________ grodog

That would be an interesting comparison: my gut says that the examples of play/sample encounters are not Holmes-Basic-complaint, but someone would have to validate.

So, there was nothing post-77 that was OD&D? No Judges Guild stuff, no other third-party material like Arduin? Wow. I must be in a time warp. :) Naw, just not so good with the dates of publication of the stuff I own (because I've actually never really cared, but that's changing.)

Well OD&D stuff was still put out after 1977 with printings and jazz, and Judges Guild did use the OD&D works since they had permission from Blume to use things like Greyhawk and Chainmail. Hum..now I wonder if Tegel (booklet L) used OD&D or Basic stats.
