Space Gamer

Space gamer is dedicated to all role playing including
some articles on D&D. This was published by
Metagaming Concepts as early as 1977 and often
features its own gaming lines. The earlier issues were
digest sized and we suspect the later are full size but
we do not know when the format shift took place.
Eventually Steve Jackson Games took over, at least
in name, as the publisher. Fantasy Gamer is the
spinoff effort of this magazine which was also
published by Steve Jackson Games. Other sibling
magazines associated with STG up until 1984 also
include Fire and Movement and Autoduel quarterly.
Neither one of those was necessarily launched by
SJG and neither are featured here on this index
because they are not fantasy mags at all.
Space gamer does a nice job of highlighting all
game systems and companies. This isn't your
ordinary house mag. At one point Space Gamer and Fantasy Gamer merge into one zine with both titles. This mag has quite a history that we hope to eventually clear up in print here.
