moving to seattle

Well sorta moving to Seattle. Made the trip a week ago for a new job. Any suggestions on sights and places to go?

I've never been there, but my friends who have did not like it at all. They said the weather sucks and the snob factor was in play.

This month is their summer i guess. Its been very nice. high in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s. I'm actually north of Seattle, in Everett. So far the people have been very nice as well. Very diverse population. I'm sure the dreary grey weather is on the horizon though.

I think you might enjoy the change of pace, from the midwest. I haven't been up to Seattle, but I have done a bit up and down the West coast. I thought it all looked great and could live there.

btw: Things I might endeavor to do if I visited..

- space needle
- seattle underground
- pick's place
- mt st helens
- Oregon coast
- Vancouver
- seafood (crabpot)
- bagdad theater (hawthorne district?)
- zoo
- art (probably highest priority)
- look for old game shoppes that no other collector has raided
- huckleberry pie at the huckleberry inn somewhere around Mt Hood? (this sounds squirrely, but what I've read
- original starbucks shop

also, that bagdad theater is in Portland, which I might add to the bucket list, as it is only 2 hours from Seattle.

If I were South American, I'd stop around San Diego.

Speaking of the WC, I do have family who live in Eugene, OR. They love it there. Everything is green.

Thanks for all the insight. I will try and make it to a few of them. Already made a couple hiking trips. I'm not a huge seafood fan, imagine that, being from Ohio. I will have to try some of the fresh caught seafood here though.

Keep the suggestions coming, it will keep me busy while away from home.

I’m a local. Yes, you just caught our small piece of Summer. It is likely to be gray for the rest of the year. The weather may be why Seattle is such an indoor gaming mecca. If you want to grab a beer or coffee and swap collection stories let me know.

Experience Music project / Sci-fi Museum (Some consider the world’s ugliest building)– See what being a billionaire can buy you. Thanks Paul Allen.

New sculpture park on the Seattle waterfront. I can’t say it is of the highest quality but it is free…again thank you Paul Allen.

Visit Bruce/Brandon Lee’s grave (Right next to the Seattle Asian Art Museum which is also a cool place to see)

Visit the Jimi Hendrix memorial

Museum of Flight (next to Boeing of course)

Ride a ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island (more for the view during the trip than actually seeing the island)

Visit Snoqualmie Falls and stop to have coffee/cherry pie at Twede’s café (A.K.A. the Twin Peaks coffee shop)

AFK Tavern looks like fun. I am within walking distance of Lazy Boy Brewing Company, little hole in the wall with great beer. I will take you up on a beer as soon as I get my schedule nailed down and learn my way around.

Lots of good ideas. I have made a couple hikes with coworkers so far. Incredible scenery. We also went to Levenworth (sp?), great time.
