Scribe's Musings:
I have the 3rd installment to the "Don't Give Up the Ship" rules printed in the IW. That installment takes place the Sept. 71 issue of IW. I assume there is a second installment and it might take place in the August 71 issue which I do not own. Unless they consider this issue to contain two parts, which is not mentioned or suggested.
The article begins by explaining that single ship combat had been neglected to date in wargaming. If an enthusiast wanted multiple ship combat it is suggested they use Fletcher Pratt's NAVAL WARGAME RULES. The setting for this game is Napoleonic sailing ship era. Included are Turn Sequence, Basic Ship Types, Movement, Turning and Wind Factors, Sail Repair during combat, Ship Gun Factors, Gunfire with Range/To Hit or Miss/Damage values.
Another interesting note in this is mention of "circulation 425" in the credits area. Not certain how many they printed overall and sold at hobby shops as well as for back issues orders.
Finally, this issue is listed as #57 in the sequence of IWs published. _________________
