It would seem as if history is starting to unfold a bit. It appears as if Mentzer was at the scene of the dumpster-gate concerning the 'spiriting away' of some of that lovely TSR art that was summarily trashed in the wake of Lorraine Williams opening days of her dictatorship.
And no mystery is compleat without the death of the person who paid for the blackmarket goods at Gen Con in 1986. One Steve Glimpse....RPGA Master (whatever the hell that is...does one get a black belt for being one of those?). Apparently, this chap is deceased and the work is once again lost.
This mystery must be solved!!!

I at least rescued a lot of original artwork & mss and sold 'em at the 1986 GenCon auction before I walked out. Somebody oughta track down the estate & assets of one guy who bought most of it (now deceased), one Steve Glimpse, an RPGA master player at the time.
