Just seen the posting at the Acaeum's classifieds. A very nice piece of work by Paul Stormberg.
Among things up for bids shall be The Doomsday Book issue #13. This is the first time I have ever seen one come up for bids. Unbelievable.
I may have to make a run at it. How much do you think? $1,200?? These are the additions/errata notes for the original Chainmail. The work therein is what the OD&D system was borne.

Must be part of the reason. I was wondering. I wonder what he gets out of all of this? I realize we all do things for this hobby for free but it kinda makes me curious.
I asked Tim Jiardini some basic questions about living in NYC and Paul's auctioneering but he never responded. This after he answered another email confirming who he was. Oh well.

A free shot at the best stuff? That's what I'd be asking for. I'm sure Paul pays top $$$, but having the advantage of no competition is invaluable. Plus, he can take a look at the item, he's holding it in his hands and can examine it. But I think that's OK this way. For me, there aren't many interesting items in the sale. For you guys, that's different, I know! _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

I would kill to thumb through teh Domesday Book and not shell out a ton of money to do so.
OK, as an ignorant (A)D&D completist: What is it and why is it so expensive/rare/interesting? _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

I think I already answered your question in the first post. It is something that all hardened collectors know exist because it has been printed about....but no one has ever seen one in the collector community. Well, foulfoot claims to have seen one at gen con auction in the mid 90s.
It is an important piece of the puzzle to the origins of this game we all love so much. How much it is worth will soon play out.

His auction keyword spamming is clogging up all of my searches.
Hahaha..I noticed, too. Same with "zeuserpuppers", another guy from Acaeum forum. Is on my blacklist already. Greedy, greedy sellers... tsk tsk tsk. _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

The doomsday book has finally seen the light of day.
Logically, one would think it would only max out at a couple of hundred bucks. I have all kinds of newsletters from the same period that profusely mention Castle and Crusades society. I have a pretty good idea what it looks like quality-wise based on those newsletters.

Comparing the Kuntz auctions to Stormberg's previous TSR sales, it looks pretty lame to me so far. I thought the burntwire auctions were much more interesting! _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

The problem is he is selling all this crap under the guise as collection of 'so-and-so'. When all it really is is a common item that shouldn't be worth anything more than anything else. I dont know why they even bother to be honest. But it continues from one TSR ex to the next with Pauls auctions. So the common denominator must be Paul.
Lots of well-known collectors on it. And even a few serious ones! _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

I can honestly say, upon seeing this, I am so much less impressed with it than I had originally thought.
Having read the Acaeum description for years, I had figured it was more of a working draft for the rules set. Now I know it is very similar to all of the IFW newsletters that are the parent organization of C&C.
I predict this item will go high but is it worth the $$$$?

It would be a wild ride for a gamble, too, I guess. But I wouldn't know what to bid, seriously. _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.
