Here are some Den Beauvais that I could find. I wouldn't argue against this body of work at all if someone felt he epitomized Dragon magazine. Truly impressive.

While clicking through, I saw quite a few quality Caldwells. I'd really love to go through and do a comprehensive list of artist's Dragon contributions. I want to build this off of the research forum entries for Dragon Magazine. I have a whole pile of them sitting here waiting to go. _________________

Agreed on the Frazetta influence. But I still prefer the action over the poses. I am very happy with Arena of Thyatis as it bridges both styles.
Supposedly there are quite a few Frank pieces coming up for auction. Is the Beauvais and Dameron from their collection? I can't recall. I might have to go fishing around. The more Frank stuff up for auction, the less competition we shall see from the fantasy art heavyweights. _________________

OK, I'm going out of my mind... I have that Elmore lodged in my head as a Dragon cover. There are reasons for that. Maybe another mag but I don't think so. Maybe an interior but again I don't think so... I need to figure that one out. I was vascillating on some purchases awhile back and this painting was involved so there's some stuff around here I need to look for...
So many fantastic Dragon covers all around
Lots of really big genre stuff will be in that auction which gives collectors like us a better chance at those TSR paintings available. I think all the big guns will be aimed at the Conan and Whelan stuff and a couple of those old timer artists I'm unfamiliar with.

To put you out of your misery, I belive it was an interior painting for the the 2nd edition Players handbook (thats why it seems so familiar) and it was also used as the cover for the recent "Dragonlance: Races of Ansalon"

Only adding to my misery Brette. I didn't even know that illustration was in there I'll find something someday and go, "Ha!" Hopefully someday soon...
Will "Dragon Attack" be the diamond in your Caldwell crown? One wonders...

Just added another:
That Tim Hildebrandt piece "Demon Swamp" is from a D&D calendar circa 1983.
Tim had done several paintings for TSR over the years but not many at one specific time.
Pro: He is way beyond the genre as far as his popularity goes. The Parkinson factor...
Con: The Brothers Hildebrandt are more popular than individual Hildebrandts.
My Guess: Need to make sure that the image I have for this one is correct. If somebody else has a copy please post it so we can be sure... Tim H. TSR work isn't readily available as much as the others. His work can sell for a good amount... Hildebrandt Brothers have a really good track record sort of like Jeff Easley in that they consistently do solid work. His brother has done a lot more individual work but I have seen them sell for about the same $$$. This has a big X factor in that his popularity is far and away beyond the realm of TSR fans. This will likely go for a good amount to nobody who visits this forum

I think a chief qualifier for an expensive Hildebrandt Bros, is published content for a vintage Lord of the Rings materials. We haven't seen much of anything by the Hildebrandts for TSR. I am very curious to see how this does if the reserve doesn't get in the way.

I'm just guessing there's going to be a reserve. Of course I hope there isn't... I also hope there's no more hunger and all the wars end and all the extinct animal species are discovered to be alive and well

I belive that there will be no reserves on most (if not all ) of the paintings discussed above.. time will tell for sure though..

I look forward to seeing everything that's available
Hard to estimate the prices for stuff to some degree. 125 +- is quite a few paintings. That is a great collection in itself! They will need a critical mass of buyers to come out in order to realize $$$$$$$. Bad economy/ IlluxCon/ ... X-Mas down the road... I wonder if that many European buyers exist for this stuff? They have their own covers in Europe as well. Seems like more Australians have been buying lately. How many additional non-Frank paintings will be up for sale? It's a big crap shoot
